Sucia

Three years ago, we visited Sucia for the first time in a very long time. Last week, my dad, my brother and his family, and me and the kids went back. (No pics of nieces and nephews to follow because Mennos don’t roll that way.)

This time we were traveling on a 22 foot fishing boat, the first time for all of us, and it was so fun. Slightly terrifying at first, as indicated by Isabeau’s face here…

They adapted quickly though, much to my dismay, and took more risks than this paranoid mama was comfortable with.

We saw some dolphins…

Caught some crabs (which the restaurant we visited later would *not* cook for us, sadly)…

And enjoyed the sights. The sky was pretty grey due to the fact that BC and Washington State are pretty much on fire right now, but it was still beautiful.

I haven’t been out on the water in far too long, and I’ve suddenly become aware that my kid’s childhood is moving along quickly without the ocean having the same impact on them that it did on me at their age. I think I’m going to have to change that in the near future.
